From The Author
Amica was founded in 2017, by our very own Ben Toser and Arron Gilder. Having both previously worked with other home automation companies they believed they could offer something better.
Ben and Arron came together by a mutual passion for smart homes & technology, with Ben’s electrical and mechanical background and Arron’s design and programming experience, the perfect partnership was born.
The foundations of Amica are built upon their combined decades of home automation experience.
Meet The Team
Though Amica has more people behind the scenes making sure every installation goes in as planned such as the installation team, support desk and admin staff; you can see below the core members that run the day to day operations.

Technical Director
Having worked for manufactures the industry by supporting, teaching and programming; Arron has a huge range of skills and knowledge when it comes to understanding the systems Amica install. He's ability to plan and engineer elements to work flawlessly for years is something to be admired.
When Arron isn't working, he enjoys walking his many dogs and cooking up some delicious meals.

Project Director
Ben's many years of experience in the industry lends him to have a wealth of knowledge when it comes to our installations. His skills and experience allows him to manage each project on the ground with ease as he knows what's expected of us and other contractors at the right times.
Ben enjoys dressing a panel board, making it lovely and neat but when he's not working he enjoys spending time with his family and friends.

Senior Automation Engineer
Jim started out as a junior engineer with Amica but quickly climbed the ranks to be our lead automation engineer and typically runs the day to day operations on site. His fast learning ability and keen eye for detail allow him to put out an excellent work standard with all the systems we install.
When Jim isn't working he enjoys getting together with friends and playing various table top board and card games!

FAQ
Not necessarily! We design all are core systems to work without needing an outside internet connection. So all major elements such as lighting, security, climate control work without it and with easy manual control. The internet is only typically used for remote access and it does not rely on 3rd party cloud servers.
We recommend involving us at the earliest planning or architectural stage. Early integration allows us to design the most efficient system, coordinate with other contractors, and ensure the infrastructure is installed correctly from day one. This leads to a smoother build, fewer variations, and a more refined final result.
No. While we specialise in large, premium residential projects, we also deliver automation and control solutions for commercial spaces, hospitality environments, specialist builds and bespoke yacht installations. If a project requires precision engineering and tailored technology, we can support it.
Every system we install includes long-term support options. We offer a few different support plan options which include remote diagnostics, proactive maintenance, priority response, and on-site support when required. Our goal is to keep your system running flawlessly for years—not just at handover. Support plans are optional and we do have pay as you go options available too.
It depends entirely on the scale of your project and the level of automation or system planned. That said, many of the items included in our proposals—such as cabling, networking, and control infrastructure—are things you’d be paying for anyway through separate contractors. By consolidating them into a single, engineered package, you remove duplication and ensure everything integrates smoothly. We’ll provide a tailored quotation once we understand your plans.
